2020 will forever be the year of pivoting! Many businesses are making big changes during these COVID-19 times, but change happens all the time and it doesn't have to be scary. Whether you are having to make a shift because of the current pandemic or because God has planted a new direction in your heart, I encourage you to frame it in a positive way. On the other side of a pivot is a brilliant and beautiful new story!

Erin toured the country sharing the stage with acts like Evanescence, Halestorm, and Candlebox. As well as writing songs featured on MTV, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and more. Now she's chasing new dreams as the CEO of the non-toxic skincare called "Skin", and is getting ready to launch her clothing line! As we go into yet another week of this pandemic, I see that fear is really increasing. When will we return to normal? Will it really be "normal" again? What will happen to my business? I want to pass along some encouragement today by giving you 2 things you can do to combat this creeping fear in. Let's take some action by focusing on what we can control in these seemingly out-of-control times.

If you want to read more about these strategies, check out my book Fear Is Not the Boss of You!

Take Action

  • Focus on things you can control—what you watch, read, eat, do with your body, etc.
  • Do the "worst thing that can happen" exercise.

Using the online space for business isn't just for adults. Teens can benefit greatly by using their passion to create and grow a business. Kids now are being raised in this tech-savvy world that makes it second nature to use for it for business. Almost a year and a half ago my boys, Noah and Easton, started a fun shoe flipping project that has turned into a legit, growing business. Today's interview with my handsome boys goes through how teens can become their own boss, creating a business that works for them. Between family, church, school, sports, and other activities, many teens have learned to pivot to have a "job" and make money in a way that works with their schedule. Do you have a kidpreneur in your home?

I am seeing on social media lately what I am calling productivity shaming. There are those that are saying everyone needs to use this "gift" of time to be doing something big like losing weight or cleaning out your whole house. I have been reminded that God does not have all of us in the same season. Some of us are in a season of rest while others are in a season of running! We need to honor God by honoring the season He has us in.

Which Season Are You In?

  • You may be in a season of rest if...
    • Your calendar is wide open and you can’t make anything happen.
    • You are trying to make things happen and everything is heavy and hard.
    • You are getting bitter.
    • Nothing is working.
  • You may be in a season of running if...
    • There are open doors all over the place.
    • You feel exhilarated and not exhausted.

Some of you LOVE your free Facebook group and are doing amazing with it and I am so happy for you. For those that hate it, it's ok to let it go!!!  I'll say it again, it's ok if you no longer want the free Facebook group you once created. There was a time it was a great idea for every small business to have a free Facebook group, but things changed. Remember, no Facebook group is the boss of you! You started your business for YOU. Do not ever feel like you have to explain your decisions for the business you are working so hard for. If it's stealing your peace, it's too expensive! I want to give you some other options!

[6:24] Deleting your free group
[8:30] Ways to tell the group it's closing
[9:50] Pop-up group to funnel into a paid group plan
[11:30] Converting your group
[16:00] Archiving your group

I was being interviewed recently and said that I believe crisis can catapult us into our calling. This was a new thought for me, but when I look at my life, I can see that big changes and shifts were often made in response to a crisis. I know lots of people whose businesses and jobs are doing fine during this time. But I also know many who have lost their jobs or had to close their business. I want to take a few minutes to encourage you that this crisis can push you towards something even bigger...something better!

Bible Scriptures to Memorize and Focus On

  • What the enemy meant for evil, God will use for good. -Genesis 50:20
  • All things work together for good to those who are called according to His purpose. -Romans 8:28

I want to give you a little gift. This is chapter 1 of my book, Fear Is Not the Boss of You. This book has been 4 years in the making and it is finally time to launch, even if it is in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. And maybe now is the time more than ever that people need this message about fear. Being overwhelmed, or stuck, or afraid does not have to be your story. There is a better way. Let me tell you about it.

And, I would be sooooo honored if you would like to purchase a copy of the entire book. Just go to jenniferallwood.com/book. You can get the audiobook, hardback, paperback—whichever trips your trigger!

I have had a word in my heart and I think this is the right time to share it. There are so many things right now that are dividing us as a society. Politics, opinions on COVID-19 and how to handle it, and so much more. It is all causing so much division. I want to remind us all that the fight is not with each other. The real fight is between good and evil, and it will be waged on our knees, not in comments on Facebook. I hope this episode is an encouragement to you!
